There’s something so incredibly special about those first 48 hours after a baby enters the world. The still quiet moments. The precious tiny details. The overwhelming love that fills the room. This Rexburg hospital newborn session at Madison Memorial Hospital was a perfect reminder of why these sessions are so meaningful.
As soon as I walked into the hospital room, I could feel the excitement radiating from these new parents. Their love for their new little baby was absolutely undeniable, and it was such an honor to capture some of their first moments as a family of three.
The Magic of a Fresh 48 Session
Fresh 48 sessions are unlike any other. They aren’t about perfect poses or curated setups in a perfect lit home or studio, they are all about the real, raw, beautiful first moments in the hospital with your new baby. Capturing the little baby yawns, the way baby snuggles up in mom’s arms, the way dad looks at his new family in absolute awe.
This sweet baby boy, Nixon, was absolutely perfect. I made sure to capture every precious detail—those tiny fingers, the soft wrinkles on his feet, and his fresh belly button. These are the moments that fade so quickly, and I wanted these parents to always have a way to look back and remember exactly how their baby looked in those very first hours. Because a fresh newborn does not stay that way for very long and having it captured in such a beautiful way will really help you remember all those first precious little moments.
A Session That Felt Extra Special
This session was special for so many reasons, but for me, it had an even deeper meaning. It was my very first Fresh 48 session, and I instantly fell in love with the experience. I can’t wait to be able to document more sessions like this and capture more precious moments.
But beyond that—I was also pregnant with my first son at the time. Standing in that hospital room, watching these new parents soak in every second with their new baby, made me even more excited for the moment I would be able to meet my own son. It gave me an even stronger desire to freeze time for these parents, knowing firsthand just how quickly these moments would pass.
Cherishing the First Hours
During this Rexburg hospital newborn session, we focused on capturing a mix of intimate and emotional images. Some of these included Snuggles with Mom and some with dad, all three of them together, and so many precious details of baby boy Nixon.
The snuggles with mom and baby we sweet because you could see in mom’s eyes how much she loved her son. The snuggles with dad and baby were precious because you could see how protecting and loving dad already was. The photos of all three of them together were special because they are some of the first family photos they have together as a family of three. And the baby details are treasured because they serve as a reminder of how small baby boy once was.
These are the moments that only happen once. They are moments that slip away faster than we ever expect. That’s why having them documented is so incredibly important.
