Graduation is such a huge milestone, and I was beyond excited and honored to capture this grad session! This one was extra special for me to capture as it was for my cousin as she finished nursing school. Watching someone you love work so hard to achieve their dreams is so special! And when she asked me to document her nursing Grad Photos for her I was so excited to do it for her. It made documenting this milestone of success even more meaningful. This session was filled with so much excitement and a whole lot of fun!
We chose a stunning location up in the mountains, just outside of Brigham City, Utah, for this session. The sun was setting, but because of the mountain landscape, we didn’t get a full golden-hour glow. But we did get perfect soft, even light that made for dreamy, natural photos. The mix of grassy fields and scattered trees created the perfect backdrop for capturing this huge achievement for her.
For most of the session, my cousin wore her cap and gown over a classic black knee-length dress—timeless, simple, and absolutely perfect for graduation photos. We also took a few photos of her without the gown to show off her dress. But one of my favorite parts? She started the session in her nursing scrubs!
Adding personal touches makes graduation photos so much more meaningful, and so YOU! She also brought along her stethoscope, which we incorporated into the session as well, to highlight her new career in healthcare. Props like these make grad sessions feel even more unique and personal to the graduate’s journey. I am always a HUGE fan of props at a photos session.
A Fun & Playful Session
Since this was a session for my cousin, the energy was extra lighthearted and fun! We spent most of the session laughing, reminiscing, and just celebrating this exciting moment in her life. Capturing real, joyful emotions is always my goal, and this session was full of so many of them.
Graduating nursing school is such a huge accomplishment, and now my cousin is officially working as a labor and delivery nurse—how amazing is that?! I am truly so proud of her! It was so special to freeze this chapter in her life, her nursing grad photos, before she embarked on her new career.
