There’s something truly magical about winter in Bear Lake, and having family photos taken in the winter in Bear Lake is even more magical! Just the way the snow falls onto the pine trees, that crisp mountain air, and the beautiful fresh fallen snow all makes for a beautiful backdrop for family photos. This Bear Lake winter family session was absolutely breathtaking, because the snow created the perfect winter backdrop.
For the Woolstenhulme Family we went up Emigration Canyon for their photos, because it really is a beautiful winter backdrop. That is something I just love about Emigration Canyon so much, it that it is so beautiful all year round. But beyond the beautiful setting, what made this session so special was the love and connection between this incredible family.
A Winter Session Filled with Love & Laughter
During this session we captured so many beautiful moments. The family brought such a fun, playful energy to their photos. The siblings were full of laughter, throwing snow and giving each other piggyback rides. It was one of those sessions where I could just feel the joy radiating through the camera.
One unique aspect of this session was that their oldest daughter is a senior in high school this year. We made sure to take a little extra time to capture some winter senior portraits for her. Senior photos in the winter have a special kind of magic, and she absolutely rocked them!
A Special Tribute
One of the most touching moments from this session was that the family honored a child they had lost by bringing a framed photo of him. It was a beautiful way to include him in their session. It was clear how much they still deeply loved and remembered him. These moments are why I love what I do! Family photos are way more about more than just pictures. They are all about telling your story and preserving memories in a way that’s personal to you and your family.
Capturing Every Meaningful Moment
During every family session there is a basic shot list of photos I always try to get. We definitely made sure to capture those during this family session as well. But I love that even those I have this basic shot list, that they still made it their own and you can see their family personality and love come through in these photos.
But during every family session I try to get the perfect posed family shot, fan family candid photos, sibling photos, individual photos, just the girls, just the boys, and couple photos of mom and dad.
